January is Really a Great Month - She Rocks Report
January 31, 2008 | Snoqaulmie Pass, | Ski
It's true. January was an amazing month! The weather stayed cold, and we had a blend of snow and sun (remember, sun? It seems long ago now...)
But you were there, right? You know how it went. So here is a quick glimpse of what we've been up to in the She Rocks world.
Everyone has an inner monologue. Ours goes something like this:
Week One: iceclimbkickturntracksetbeaconsearchturnturnturnwalkuphillskidown
Week Two:Nowmoresnowandsnowand still moreSNOWgeezthisskiingstuffsureisfun...
Week Three: LookSUNandweroutefindoverridgesthroughtreesandtheskiingisGREAT!
Week Four: tourplanningmapandcompassplusavyandweatherforecastletsgo...
In the longer version, we have climbed ice with and without leashes, utilizing the great little ice crag at Alpental. Our Women's Intro Course saw sunny, sunny days (did I mention it was sunny?) and an excellent trip up Mt. Snoqualmie...and powder turns below the rocky ridges of Lundin Peak. And our TGIFAIF found the way through high avalanche danger to ski powder in the trees. We've been on the north slopes of Chair Peak, the east ridge of Mt. Snoqualmie, the southern side of Snow Lake Divide, and the western side of Kendall Ridge. All points on the Snoqualmie Pass compass rose!
If any of this sounds foreign (where is Mt. Snoqualmie, you ask?), then check out the pictures here and in each trip...and come join us to check it out! It's our backyard...and it sure beats looking at a rainy window from the inside and wondering if/when it's going to stop.
January is a Great Month...Indeed.
