Wednesday Day Tour Snoqualmie Pass
January 17, 2007 | Mt. Snoqualmie, East and South Ridges | Ski
What's that you say, it's Wed-nes-day?
Here is a quick round of pictures from last Wednesday's tour up Mt. Snoqualmie. Originally armed for a ski off the back of the mountain, we changed plans and opted to ski down the east and south flanks instead...this was due partially to technical difficulties (in the form of uncooperative binding pieces) and partially to weather (we were treated with many sucker holes, but the skiing in the open was white and windscoured).
The final result: Plan B (or was it C?) invovled skiing up the East Peak of Mt. Snoqualmie via the east ridge, then down the southeast face to just above Cave Ridge. Our second run went up the south ridge of the mountain, then a long ski (almost 3000 vert!) all the way down the south flank of the mountain.
In summary:
Skinned uphill 4100 ft total
Skied downhill 4000 ft total
Type and quality of turns: we like tree skiing. Yes.
Bonus: beers and happy hour snacks at Robertiello's in North Bend to finish off the day...so very civilized.
Long live the Wednesday tour!!
(Kudos for the pictures go to Brent and Jim...Thanks for a great day, everyone!)
