Mixed Mountaineering Course in the North Cascades National Park
July 15, 2008 - July 19, 2008
It seems very important to us to show students as many aspects of mountaineering as possible in a course like this. Our client to guide ratio is smaller than average, because we feel strongly about the mixed element of such a course. The terrain in North Cascades National Park is as good as it gets. Good access, big glaciers, long and exposed ridges, committing faces. It may be the best mountaineering-course location in the lower forty-eight states. We will base-camp in the Cascade Pass area and conduct our course from there.
The curriculum will include glacier travel, route planning, navigation, basic rope handling, crampon technique, short roping, crevasse rescue and movement on fourth class terrain.
This course should get you ready for many of our other programs and will give you an in-depth introduction into the world of mixed mountaineering.
