Pico de Orizaba Ski Descent 2016

Oct 22, 2016 - Oct 28, 2016

Pico de Orizaba (18,491 ft / 5636 m) is the highest point in Mexico and the third highest point in North America. It’s a popular mountaineering objective in its own right, but we propose doing what we’re best known for – skiing 4000 ft from the summit to the toe of the Jamapa Glacier! This trip timed to coincide with the end of the storms that brings Orizaba most of its snow, and happens to on the week before Dia de Muertos – the Day of the Dead, one of the great holidays of Mexican culture.

Perfect spacing in Niseko birch forests

Japan Powder Skiing 2017

Jan 30, 2017 - Feb 4, 2017

Niseko gets its snow from cold fronts coming out of Siberia, picking up moisture as they cross the Sea of Japan, then dumping it when it hits the mountains of Hokkaido and Honshu. The combination creates a huge amount of very dry snow, and you get to ski it over, and over, and over again.

Skitouring in the fjords of Norway 2017

Skitouring in the fjords of Norway 2017

Mar 20, 2017 - Mar 25, 2017

The ski trip into the Norwegian fjords around Romsdalen is a world-class experience. The lands along the Norwegian Coast have been inhabited for thousands of years and yet a lot of the primeval character of the landscape remains. The meeting of mountains and ocean is truly remarkable. The coastline may very well be the most complicated one in the world. Thousands of fjords ranging from a few hundred meters to over 100 kilometers make up the coast of Norway. After having been there, we saw just enough to realize that the skiing possibilities are just about endless.

Short Bus Adventure Ski Week 2017

Mar 27, 2017 - Apr 1, 2017

Chamonix, Zermatt and Saas-Fee are world class resorts in the Alps with an amazing lift infrastructure and we intend to use it. During the Short Bus Week we will expose a group of Adventure skiers to some of the best known and some of the not so well known ski tours and ski descents of the Savoy and Valaisan Alps. We know the Alps and especially the Swiss Alps. We know them more intimately than many guides from the states who guide there.

Spearhead Traverse

Mar 30, 2017 - Apr 2, 2017

Europe has the Haute Route. The Northwest has the Spearhead Traverse. This high alpine ski tour in Garibaldi Provincial Park features everything it takes to become a classic. Easy access, a spectacular setting in the back country of Whistler / Blackcomb ski area, heavily glaciated terrain and even a hut make it a must for anybody who is serious about ski touring. It seems incredible that a ski traverse of such quality and easy access (we take the lift to the top of the Blackcomb ski area) can still offer so much solitude and such a wilderness experience.

Ortler Ski Traverse 2017

Apr 3, 2017 - Apr 8, 2017

A fantastic week of ski touring in the high Italian Alps. We keep returning to the Valfurva Region because of the great combination of ski touring terrain, comfortable huts and Italian hospitality. The Branca and Pizzini huts are famous and the ski touring in this area just south of the Austrian Border is some of the best we have ever experienced.

Haute Route Ski Tour 2017

Apr 10, 2017 - Apr 15, 2017

The Haute Route is most likely the single most famous ski traverse in the Alps. Pro Guiding Service has guided this super classic ski tour from Chamonix to Zermatt about 40 times in 5 different variations. We have guided the original route via the Valsorey hut, the "classic route" via Verbier, from Zermatt to Chamonix ending in Courmayeur and variations in between those mentioned.
The Haute Route crosses eleven glaciers on its way from Chamonix to Zermatt at an average elevation of 3,000 meters. Depending on the route variation you might end up skiing in three different countries. The Swiss Alpine Club huts (Cabane de Trient,Mont Fort, Prafleuri, Dix and Vignettes) are sophisticated by US standards, the mountains are more alpine in character than anything in the lower 48 states, and packs are small enough to let you enjoy the skiing even at the highest elevations of the trip. Ski touring in such spectacular mountains coupled with the multi-cultural exchange will make this trip a unique experience.
Taking a break on the Curtain Morain

Spearhead Traverse Express 2017

Apr 14, 2017 - Apr 16, 2017

The Northwest has the Spearhead Traverse. Easy access, a spectacular setting in the back country of the continent's best ski area, heavily glaciated terrain and even a hut make it a must for anybody who is serious about ski touring. It seems incredible to me that a ski traverse of such quality and easy access (we take the lift to the top of the Blackcomb ski area) can still offer so much solitude and such a wilderness experience. The Spearhead Traverse Express follows the same route as the standard Spearhead Express, we just do it a bit faster this time.

Bernese Oberland Ski Traverse 2017

Apr 17, 2017 - Apr 22, 2017

Ski touring and ski mountaineering in the Bernese Oberland is the quintessential Swiss Alps experience. Pro Guiding Service has guided on the Konkordia glacier, the Jungfrau and the Finsteraarhorn region for well over 20 weeks in many variations. We have many local connections there and speak the local language. The area south of the Jungfraujoch is the most glaciated zone in the Alps.

Valdez Ski Touring Week 2017

Valdez Ski Touring Week 2017

Apr 17, 2017 - Apr 22, 2017

Valdez is well known for its heli skiing, and the Thompson Pass area is one of our favorite ski mountaineering areas in the U.S. The mountains are wild and spectacular, but surprisingly easy to summit on skis. The snow pack is very maritime and therefore perfect for steeper lines. The fact that we get to stay in the port town of Valdez and enjoy great salmon dinners night after night makes this a uniquely Northwest American experience.

Haute Route Imperiale 2017

Apr 17, 2017 - Apr 22, 2017

The "Royal Haute Route“ leads from the sleepy Val’Anniviers in a southerly direction to Zermatt through some of the most spectacular and high alpine terrain of the Swiss Alps. The tour will take us to the Turtmannhut, the Cabane de Tracuit, Cabane de Grand Muntet and the Schonbielhut before heading down to Zermatt.

Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa Ski Descent

Apr 24, 2017 - Apr 29, 2017

Ski off the two highest peaks in the Alps. Two amazing ski descents. Mont Blanc, 4808 meters to Chamonix, 1030 meters; Pointe Dufour of the Monte Rosa, 4634 meters, Zermatt, 1600 meters. The vertical drop from the summit of Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa to the towns of Chamonix and Zermatt are enormous. We will attempt to ski from these summits in some of the most spectacular scenery the Alps have to offer.

Ski Mountaineering Course in Boston Basin

May 4, 2017 - May 7, 2017

Boston Basin is located in the heart of the North Cascades National Park and lies at the foot of the famous Forbidden Peak. Mt Waddington Ski Expedition 2017

May 5, 2017 - May 15, 2017

At 13,300 feet, Mount Waddington is the highest mountain in British Columbia. The Waddington Range is known in the climbing community for its great granite, endless number of routes, vast ski touring terrain and remote location - so remote that access becomes easy. We drive to a heli-port west of Williams Lake, B.C. and fly into the heart of the range with White Saddle Air.
