The Little Snoqualmie Haute Route

The Little Snoqualmie Haute Route isn’t that little. It takes you through the immediate backcountry north of Snoqualmie Pass and uses Overcoat Glacier as a turnaround point. The route is committing and physically challenging; it demands sound judgment. The tour can be done from both ends and follows the Snoqualmie Haute Route (Tour 28) for a good part of the way. Tour 28 is described from the Middle Fork; this route is detailed from Snoqualmie Pass. This description should also serve if you want to complete the Snoqualmie Haute Route from the pass, since the section described is probably the trickiest in terms of timing and route finding. After you complete this tour,your view from the top of the Alpental Ski Area into the Snoqualmie Pass backcountry will be changed forever—I promise.
